Many of these plants were first introctions to this country, discovered by the plant hunting descendants of the Countess.
History of the Barn
Benedictine Monks established St Peter's Monastery at Abbotsbury in the 1040s. They built the Tithe Barn in the 1390's. The monastery was destroyed in 1539 during the dissolution. Some of the ruins can be seen around St. Nicholas' Church in the village.
Goat Racing
Goats play a major part in our activity schedule, before each race there is parade of the runners, so that a favourite can be chosen to support.
Bottle feed the goats after the race, but hang on tight to the bottle! After feeding, some children will be able to take a goat for a warm-down walk, also cuddle guinea pigs, ride ponies, race toy tractors and play in the soft play area.
